How a Nail-Making Machine Works
Each tiny nail is produced from coiled iron wire matching the nail shank diameter through a series of cyclical movements within the machine: straightening → punching → wire feeding → clamping → shearing → punching. Every step in this process is critical.
The punching motion on the nail-making machine is driven by the rotation of the main shaft (eccentric shaft), which drives the connecting rod and punch rod to create reciprocating motion for punching. The clamping motion is achieved by the rotation of two auxiliary shafts (also eccentric shafts) and cams. These apply repeated pressure to the clamping rod, causing it to swing left and right. This action clamps and releases the movable nail-making die, completing one cycle of wire clamping. As the auxiliary shafts rotate, they drive the small connecting rods on both sides, causing the die holder to move back and forth. The cutting blade fixed within the die holder induces plastic deformation or separation of the wire through the stamping action of the punch rod, the clamping of the die, and the shearing of the cutting blade. This process achieves the desired nail head shape, nail tip configuration, and nail dimensions. Nails produced via stamping exhibit stable quality, high production efficiency, and simplified operation. This method enables the automation and mechanization of nail-making machines, significantly reducing production costs. Therefore, the precision and structure of the spindle, auxiliary shaft, punch rod, dies, and cutting tools directly impact the forming and accuracy of the nails.
